Laser Pigmentation Removal

Laser Pigmentation Removal, also known as laser skin rejuvenation, is a process that utilises a laser to eliminate pigmentation and redness. This is one of the most advanced procedures available for the removal of undesired pigmentation on the skin, including age spots, sunspots, hyperpigmentation, flat pigmented birthmarks, and freckles. Melanin, a pigment produced by specific skin cells, determines the colour of human skin. In rare circumstances, melanin production goes haywire, producing either too little or too much melanin, resulting in skin pigmentation disorders. These conditions can cause the skin to seem lighter or darker than normal, blotchy, or discoloured. Excessive melanin can result in hyperpigmentation, while insufficient melanin might result in hypopigmentation.

What purpose does it serve?

The method for Laser Pigmentation Removal is used to treat the following skin conditions:

  • Melasma is a brown discoloration of the skin on the face that appears in patches.
  • Solar lentigines are little dark spots on the skin with a distinct border that are surrounded by normal-appearing skin.
  • Typically, birthmarks are flat and brown or black in hue.
  • Port-wine stains are reddish-purple discolorations on the skin caused by enlarged red blood vessels throughout the body.
  • Freckles are tiny, brownish spots on the skin generated by pigment deposition that grow in number and intensity with exposure to sunshine.

Procedure:

The laser is used to specifically target pigmented lesions in the skin that absorb light. The laser warms and shatters the pigment, which is subsequently attracted to the surface without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue. When pigmented lesions are drawn to the surface, they will either fade or dry and flake away from the treated region. This will impart an even tone and complexion to the skin.
