CAUSES OF FACIAL WRINKLES

Sun exposure (UV light) – Chronic UV exposure is one of the most prevalent causes of skin wrinkling, especially in places like Mumbai. UV light causes accelerated ageing by weakening the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin) and destroying collagen (the principal structural protein in skin). Additionally, excessive radiation can lead to skin cancer and pigmentation. A decent sunscreen shields the skin from the sun’s damaging rays.

Expression lines — These wrinkles are the consequence of facial expression-related muscle activity. While creating facial expressions, the skin contracts, resulting in the creation of wrinkles. Initially, these lines only emerge when the muscles contract, i.e. when you smile or frown; but, as you age, they grow more permanent and occur even when the muscles are at rest. Botox relaxes these wrinkles.

Facial volume loss – When we are younger, our face is fuller and plumper, but as we age, this volume is lost, resulting in skin laxity and thinning. The loss of fat around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead causes sagging skin and wrinkles. Additionally, facial volume reduction leads in an older, gauntier look. Non-invasive facial contouring using dermal fillers can help replenish this lost volume, therefore reducing wrinkles and restoring the face’s young appearance.

Gravity – The force of gravity causes the skin on the face to descend. This causes sagging cheeks, nasolabial lines (the lines from the corners of the mouth to the nose), and jowls, as well as sagging eyebrows and creases.

Sleep lines – Skin compression caused by contact with a pillow during sleep. Vertical or diagonally oriented lines on the side of the forehead or face are indicative of sleep lines.

Squinting to avoid the glare of the sun develops frown lines and crow’s feet often (lines around the eyes on smiling).

Changes in facial fat – As we age, facial fat is redistributed; it is shed in some locations and collected in others. This can be observed in the cheeks, around the eyes, and at the temples, resulting in a thin and drawn appearance. There may be bulging fat pads on the lower lids. The well-known double chin is caused by lax muscles and excessive fat deposition below the chin.

Changes in lifestyle – Due to its intrinsic sucking motion, smoking is one of the most visible causes of mouth wrinkles. Also, to shield the eyes from the smoke, the region surrounding the eyes may get wrinkled, resulting in crow’s feet.

Dietary deficiencies – A lack of a balanced diet and a deficiency in antioxidants also contribute to robbing the face of its spring of youth.

TREATMENTS

Sun Exposure – Initially, wrinkles can be avoided by wearing a high-quality sunscreen. (For further information, please see Sun and Skin). This protects against UV rays, preventing more skin damage.

Botox is commonly used to alleviate expression lines, as it relaxes the muscles that produce skin compression. This is often conducted on the muscles between the eyebrows and around the eyes. Botox treatments often last three to four months. Botox injections prevent the deepening of static lines because they block the movement that generates wrinkles. If static lines or resting lines are already present, anti-wrinkle injections may have little effect. However, repeated Botox injections relieve the skin of constriction, and static wrinkles may diminish with time.

Facial volume loss – A straightforward comparison for face volume decrease is a grape – When we are young, our faces appear plumper, like a grape, but as we age, they lose volume and develop wrinkles, like a raisin. Effectively replacing this volume with dermal fillers minimises wrinkles and revolumizes the face. Dermal fillers provide volume to parts of the face that have lost it owing to the creation of facial expressions, gravity, sleep, or just ageing. Their duration ranges from 4 to 24 months. In addition, it is possible to rejuvenate and restructure the face non-surgically by deliberately adding volume to regions like the cheeks, undereye hollows (tear troughs), lips, and brows.

RF pixel can be used to cure etched wrinkles and textural imperfections on the skin. While RF pixel use is successful, it frequently necessitates a period of downtime or recuperation. Other procedures include the following:

Radiofrequency Skin Contraction
Deep Chemical Peels
Dermaroller Dermal Fillers Treatment
Mesotherapy Therapy
Alma Photo Facial
